Conscious Sedation Dentistry Abroad — Treat Dental Anxiety in Valencia

Conscious sedation dentistry abroad at Asensio Advanced Dentistry in Valencia allows patients with dental anxiety or phobia to undergo any treatment — implants, extractions, cosmetic procedures — in a state of deep relaxation, with full monitoring by our anaesthesiologist throughout.

Dr. Lucía Asensio Romero and the full Asensio team have worked with conscious sedation techniques for many years, making complex or lengthy procedures comfortable for patients who would otherwise avoid dental care.

Conscious sedation is not general anaesthesia — the patient remains conscious and able to respond to instructions, but is deeply relaxed, free from anxiety and will remember little or nothing of the procedure. It is routinely used in the United States, Australia, Denmark and France and is well established in advanced dental practice.

The first consultation is completely free. Call us on 0800 048 8058 or email office@dentalasensio.co.uk to discuss your case.

Reduce anxiety and nervous tension Sedative agents produce a state of calm and wellbeing within minutes

Minimise involuntary movement Patient is relaxed and still — allowing the clinical team to work more efficiently
Amnesia effect IV sedation produces partial or complete amnesia of the procedure — breaking the cycle of dental phobia

Which treatments can be performed under sedation?

Conscious sedation at Asensio is available for any dental treatment — including dental implants abroad, All-on-4 full arch rehabilitation, oral surgery and cosmetic procedures. For patients who have avoided the dentist for years due to anxiety, sedation allows multiple treatments to be completed in fewer visits — particularly useful for UK patients travelling to Valencia.

Frequently asked questions

Is conscious sedation safe?

Yes. At Asensio, conscious sedation is administered and monitored throughout by a qualified anaesthesiologist — not the treating dentist. Vital signs are monitored continuously. The drugs used have rapid metabolism and minimal residual effects.

Will I be unconscious?

No. Conscious sedation produces deep relaxation but not unconsciousness. You remain able to respond to instructions and breathe independently. This is different from general anaesthesia.

How quickly does nitrous oxide wear off?

Nitrous oxide is rapidly eliminated from the body — most patients are fully recovered within 15–30 minutes of the gas being discontinued. IV sedation takes longer to wear off and patients should not drive on the day of treatment.

Can I have sedation if I have a medical condition?

Sedation suitability depends on your medical history. This will be assessed at the free consultation before any treatment is planned. Patients with certain cardiovascular conditions, respiratory conditions or drug interactions may require additional assessment.
