WHAT IS BICHECTOMY?
To know what Bichectomy consists of, we first have to know what the Bichat Bag is. Bichet Bag is an anatomical structure located in the middle and lower region of the face and it has great contour relevance in the cheeks. Thanks to a French anatomist and pathologist Marie Francois Xavier Bichat, it was shown that Bichat Bag was not a gland but a bag of fat that is located under the cheeks, which made it possible to remove the said bag of fat, thereby favoring the appearance of the face. This technique is called Bichetomy.
Bichetomy has become increasingly popular among celebrities. Among the models and actresses who have undergone this cosmetic surgery, we find some popular names such as Jennifer Lawrence, Jennifer Aniston, Kim Kardashian, Mila Kunis, Angelina Jolie, and Victoria Beckham. All of them have obtained an amazing change thanks to this surgery.
HOW IS THE BICHECTOMY PERFORMED?
It is a surgical intervention where the Bichat bags are removed. As they are accumulations of fat that give volume to the face and not glands, it is completely safe to carry out this intervention.
During the operation, cuts are made on the inside of the cheeks that can last approximately 40 minutes, so that the same day, the patient would be at home recovering. As the cuts are made on the inside of the cheeks, there are no visible scars on the face.
Candidates for this treatment are those who seek to improve the appearance of their faces, especially those who have a round face shape.
Those people who present enormous facial flaccidity, advanced age, or people who present other contraindications will not be able to undergo this operation. That is why it is advisable to go to a specialist who will assess whether or not the person is suitable to undergo a Bichectomy.
Since the mouth is very prone to bacteria, very careful monitoring is required to see that everything is progressing correctly. To help the mouth recover in an ideal way, it is advisable to adhere to the following recommendations:
After the surgery, the surgeon will place a compression bandage for a few hours. Ice may be placed on the cheeks to help reduce swelling.
Some medications such as anti-inflammatories or antibiotics may be prescribed in order to mitigate the pain once the effects of anesthesia wear off.
The first night, the patient should sleep with their head raised and apply cold compresses for the first week.
The diet indicated by the surgeon must be followed strictly in order to avoid possible problems. If everything progresses correctly, after a few days, the patient will be able to eat soft foods.
In the event of any alarming symptom, such as the swelling not going down or the face being very red, it is advisable to go to the doctor for a check-up.
